Spain is one of the most beautiful countries in the world during summer. Because of their famous beaches, mountains, and weather, it’s one of the top places to visit in Europe. In Brihuega, Spain (a 1-hour drive from Madrid— central Spain), there are these enchanting lavender fields, that are just as beautiful as the ones you’ve probably seen in France. I want to show you how our latest Proposal at Brihuega Lavender Fields turned out!

A Proposal in the Lavender Fields
Jake and I had been dying to get photos at this lavender field, because everyone we knew that went had said it was such a stunning spot for photos. We knew that it would 100% be worth it to go, since it was only a 45-minute drive from Madrid. This surprise proposal couldn’t have been timed better; the lavender was in full bloom.
If you’re thinking about proposing this summer in Madrid, first of all, I was to say you’ve got this! I know it can be nerve-racking, but with a little help from the right people (aka your photographers!) everything will go smoothly. We know you want it to be perfect, so we will help you plan it just the way you’re envisioning!
If you’re wondering where to propose and you’re looking for something romantic, different, and fun, then this is the spot. Your girl will be so enchanted! I mean, just look at these photos.
When to Propose at Brihuega Lavender Fields
If you want to get the most out of your photoshoot at Brihuega Lavender Fields, you should go in mid-July, when the lavender is at it’s full bloom. If you go earlier or late, there’s a chance that the lavender isn’t ready, or gone. These photos were taken mid-July, and the lavender was PERFECT.
During the summer in Spain, the sunset is late. The best time to go in July is around 20:30-21:15, because then you’ll get the perfect sunset light. This proposal at Brihuega lavender Fields was at sunset. As a result, we got some really amazing light.
Note: Because it’s a known spot for locals, in July the lavender fields will be pretty busy. It’s a pretty popular spot, so it’s no surprise. I recommend hiring a professional photographer who can use Photoshop so that you don’t have to worry about people in the background of your photos!
Preparing for Your Proposal Photoshoot
There are a couple things you’ll want to have in mind when preparing for your proposal photoshoot!
First, if it’s a surprise proposal like this one, you’ll need help from your photographer. Either your photographer will make themselves inconspicuous until you pop the question, or you can tell your partner that you’ve planned just a normal photoshoot and she’ll still be unsuspecting!

Here’s a tip: in places like the lavender fields, the ground is often uneven and rocky– so, you’ll want to wear comfortable shoes. A lot of the time, you won’t even see your shoes in the photos— it’s better to be comfy than to be in pain when you’re taking photos!
