For example, you may think that the best villas in Lake Como are the over-hyped ones, like Villa del Balbianello or Villa Monastero. Thing is, what you can expect from Lake Como is so much more! The Perfect Lake Como Destination Wedding Venue— Villa Pessina

Villa Pessina is without a doubt one of the most underrated villas in Lake Como. It sits directly on the western shore in the town of Tremezzo (near the Villa Carlotta if you’ve heard of it). From the road, what grabs your attention first is the tower: tall, medieval-looking, with arched windows and a loggia facing the lake. It almost resembles a mini medieval castle rising from the horizon. It’s cool.

What we love about Villa Pessina in particular is it’s easy access from both the main road and by boat too, which makes your life so much easier when it comes to transporting and accommodating your guests. That’s just on the practical side of things, though! This venue is absolutely more interesting, intimate, and secretive than the grand aristocratic villas nearby. Instead of a huge spectacle, it has the atmosphere of a hidden private oasis just for you and your closest people. Tips for Having Your Wedding at Villa Pessina, Lake Como

If you’re planning to have your wedding at Villa Pessina, hurray! There are some things to consider when it comes to your photos at this specific wedding venue in Lake Como, and these are some tips we’ve noticed bring us success:

• Do a first look! We always recommend to couples getting married here to do a first look. Villa Pessina has so many gorgeous areas like the roof area or the bedroom balconies that if you decide to do a first look, it will look amazing.

• Have your ceremony later in the day. If you want the best lighting for your ceremony time, aim for later in the day. Midday is usually (depending on the season) the worst time because it’s hot, the sun is high, and it will cast ugly shadows on your faces! If you aim for anytime past 4pm, then you’ll be getting much nicer lighting for some beautiful ceremony photos!

• Leave room in your schedule for at least 30 minutes of portrait photos on the property. Villa Pessina has a beautiful view of the mountains and a lush garden on the property that make for amazing wedding portrait photos! Make sure you schedule in enough time for portraits of just you two!

Sophisticated Wedding Ceremony at Villa Pessina

I’d love to show you how beautiful a ceremony can be at Villa Pessina! This wedding venue is perfect for up to 100 guests, which you can accommodate at a nearby hotel (we love Villa Marie which is a 2 minute drive from Villa Pessina). That’s why a lot of couples who are having smaller micro destination weddings decide to go with Villa Pessina— for a perfect private event hosting guests who are most-likely spending a couple nights.

This particular wedding ceremony was around 5pm in April. The bride wears a stunning bridal dress from Tatyana Kochnova Atelier, which made her look like a literal princess. The groom enters with the bride. A prayer commences the ceremony, followed by the couple reading personal vows and then a sentimental speech by the officiant. To end the ceremony, the couple happily exits after exchanging rings! We were able to get some fun drone shots of the ceremony, too.

Wedding Cocktail on the Terrace with Lake Views

The cocktail, followed by the reception were held in two different spots— the cocktail on the garden property outside, and then the reception dinner on the villa’s porch entranceway. Charlotte and David’s cocktail featured tapas galore, aperol spritz, and a live music band to keep the mood lively and upbeat. This couple leaned heavily into a “La Dolce Vita” aesthetic that was captured perfectly in the editorial-style photos— candlelit terraces, silk dresses, unmissable decorations, sunset aperitivos.

During this time, we were able to get some wedding portraits of just the two of them with their luxury vintage car from Vague Rentals, and also some aerial shots of the venue.

Villa Pessina’s Indoor Reception Area

A reception at Villa Pessina can be held in different spaces, but since this wedding was in April and the weather got cooler once the sun went down, the couple opted for an indoor dance and terrace table setting— and boy are we glad they did! The reception location transformed into absolute magic once the lighting and decoration were up! The couple entered the reception to their favorite song. These are the moments that literally feel magical. Even Jake and I had to pinch ourselves a couple times to make sure we weren’t dreaming!
