Barcelona, especially the countryside, is without a doubt one of the most beautiful regions in Spain. If you want a countryside wedding venue with tons of character, La Baronía being one of the absolute best in Spain. Not only is it one of the most coveted wedding venues in Barcelona, but it’s popularity is sought out all over Spain, making it a hotspot for destination weddings of all kinds.
What we love about La Baronía is it’s completely unique castle structure, with tall rows of columns, gorgeous ballrooms, and romantic outdoor terraces. It’s a must-visit spot, and an even more incredible place to say “I do”. If you’re interested in booking La Baronía for your wedding, book through their website and contact them.

Tips for Having Your Wedding at La Baronía, Barcelona
If you’re planning to have your wedding at La Baronía, hurray! There are some things to consider when it comes to your photos at this specific wedding venue in Barcelona, and these are some tips we’ve noticed brings us success:
- Do a first look! To take full advantage of what La Baronía offers, we recommend to couples getting married here to do a first look. This venue has so many gorgeous nook and corners that it won’t be a problem to find the perfect spot.
- Have your ceremony later in the day, just before golden hour. If you want the best lighting and weather for your ceremony time, aim for later in the day. Midday is usually (depending on the season) the worst time because the sun is high and will cast ugly shadows on your faces! If you aim for anytime past 4pm, then you’ll be getting much nicer lighting for some beautiful ceremony photos!
- Leave room in your schedule for at least 30 minutes of portrait photos on the property. La Baronía has so much to offer for amazing wedding portraits! This couple intentionally took time out of their cocktail to make sure they got some portraits of just them at the venue. We highly recommend it!
Say “I do” at the at La Baronía’s Castle Courtyard
We’d love to show you how beautiful a ceremony can be in Barcelona’s countryside! At La Baronía, the best location to have your wedding ceremony is the castle courtyard (called “El Cabañon“). From there, you have a gorgeous luscious-green ivy-covered façade to its stained glass windows as a backdrop for your ceremony. If you’re not convinced to have your wedding ceremony here by looking at these photos, then we really don’t know what to say!
This particular wedding ceremony was around 6pm in June. It was quite hot and sunny, so that’s why we recommend having your ceremony later in the day. They had an entrance by the groom, then the bride, a saying of vows, a short and sentimental speech by the officiant, and then a triumphal exit down the aisle.
Cultural Highlights to Enrich Your Barcelona Castle Destination Wedding
Explore the some of the finest places in the region
- Flamenco or Catalan Rumba Performance: Introduce your guests to the fiery spirit of Spanish music with a live Flamenco show during the cocktail hour or reception. For a more regional flavor, consider a Catalan rumba band—lively, romantic, and perfect for dancing under the stars.
- Tapas & Cava Welcome Night: Host a traditional Tapas & Cava welcome party at the venue or a nearby bodega. Pair regional specialties like “pa amb tomàquet” and “botifarra” with local sparkling wine (Cava) for an authentic culinary experience.
- Incorporate a “Castellers” Demonstration: If you’re aiming for something dramatic and truly Catalan, invite a local castellers group to perform their human tower-building tradition. It’s a breathtaking and symbolic expression of unity and strength—ideal themes for a wedding!
Taste Traditional Catalan Cuisine
- Pa amb tomàquet (Bread with Tomato): A staple in every Catalan household: toasted country bread rubbed with ripe tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled with salt. Often served with jamón ibérico, cheese, or anchovies.
- Fideuà: A Catalan version of paella, but made with short noodles instead of rice. Typically includes seafood like shrimp, squid, and clams, and is served with allioli (garlic mayo) on the side.
- Crema Catalana: Catalonia’s answer to crème brûlée. A silky custard topped with a thin, caramelized sugar crust, often flavored with cinnamon and lemon zest.

Outdoor Wedding Reception at La Baronía
La Baronía is a perfect location for destination weddings because you can have everything in one place— there are spaces for getting ready, the ceremony, a cocktail, and reception with a party at the end of the day. On this wedding day, the vendors at the venue transformed the ceremony space into a beautiful outdoor candle-lit dinner space. It was enchanting to say the least! When the sun goes down more you’re able to catch the golden hour for portraits. These are the moments that literally feel magical. Even Jake and I had to pinch ourselves a couple times to make sure we weren’t dreaming!
