Autumn Wedding at Finca El Gasco, Madrid

Madrid is one of those cities that doesn’t always make the top on “must see” cities in Spain, ’cause it doesn’t have the ocean, or warm weather all year round. BUT what you can expect from Madrid is some really exquisite wedding fincas and venues! If you think that Spain is just beaches and bikinis, then you have yet to explore the real wonders of the heart of Spain— which includes fincas just like Finca el Gasco. That’s mostly why I want to share with you this autumn wedding we did this past fall— an Autumn Wedding at Finca el Gasco.

An Autumn Wedding in Madrid

Autumn is definitely my favourite season out of them all. In September, when the colours of the leaves start to change and the weather gets a bit cooler (which, in Madrid is still quite warm). Outdoor weddings at this time are super pleasant, and you still get the option of doing an indoor reception if you’d like. This wedding was in the first weekend of October, and that’s exactly what they did.

You might not believe me, but this finca is located just outside of Madrid city to find views like this. In the mountains of Madrid (called “La Sierra”), La Pedriza is a range of rock formations that are pretty gorgeous. At sunset, the sun’s flares go right behind the mountains creating these jaw-dropping golden photos! We took these photos at Ruta La Pedriza right before sunset.

Tips for Having Your Wedding at Finca El Gasco

If you’re thinking about getting married at Finca el Gasco, hurray! Now that you’re planning your wedding here, there are some things to consider! Here’s our best tips for planning a wedding and having success with your wedding photography:

Plan for a good time of year and day. To beat the heat and the cold, the best times for wedding at Finca el Gasco is either in the spring or fall (March-June; Sept.-Nov.).
Have your ceremony later in the day. If you want the best lighting for your ceremony time, aim for later in the day. Midday is usually (depending on the season) the worst time because the sun is high and will cast ugly shadows on your faces! If you aim for anytime past 4pm, then you’ll be getting much nicer lighting for some beautiful ceremony photos!
Have your ceremony outside on the finca’s grounds. The finca has a gorgeous grounds surrounding it, so that’s where we would recommend having the ceremony set up. That way, you’ll have the best views of the back of the chateau and enough space to seat all your guests. We also recommend facing toward the building if possible!
Leave room in your schedule for at least 30 minutes of portrait photos on the property. The whole property is absolutely gorgeous— you won’t want to miss getting portrait photos done around the finca grounds. Make sure you schedule in enough time to make that happen! Right after the ceremony or during cocktail hour is usually most convenient.
